Foremothers/Antepasadas
September 15th &16th, 2023

Foremothers/Antepasadas explores through movement and storytelling the strength, grace, and resiliency of the woman spirit. On this journey, La Huesera – the eternal soul – brings together the women of our past, present and future. The four choreographies – Alma Indigena, Mujer Valiente, Quiero Ser, and Mujer Frontera – shine a light on the complexity of a woman’s journey. Foremothters/Antepasadas reminds us to always honor and celebrate the legacy of our woman story.

An Afternoon with Adelita
September 2, 2023

With the home on their backs in the folds of their rebozos these women go into battle leaving the life they know behind by choice or force. Frontera Dance Project offered an afternoon of poetry, empowering knowledge, song and dance theater to our community about one of our inspirations and themes – the Adelita and Mujer Valiente.

An Afternoon with Adelita  was made possible by Frontera Dance Project, thank you to Prof. Emmy Pérez, Professor and Chair of the UTRGV Department of Creative Writing for coordinating Dr. Yolanda Chávez Leyva’s visit and to the UTRGV College of Fine Arts for extending the funding, in collaboration with Dr. Dahlia Guerra, for our guest speaker’s visit.
